Managed AI uses the Lovable AI Gateway behind the scenes so you do not need any provider account. Usage is metered against your Blanca's Builder plan.

Choose Managed AI for simplicity and predictable billing. Choose BYOK if you already have a provider contract or need a specific model.

Which AI providers are supported for BYOK?

OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini and Mistral. xAI Grok is in beta. New providers are added regularly; see /trust/ai-providers for the live list.

How do I add a BYOK key?

Settings, AI, Providers, Add key. Paste the key, choose the provider and we verify it with a single test call before saving.

Are my BYOK keys encrypted?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Keys are encrypted at rest with envelope encryption using a per-workspace data key. Only the AI worker can decrypt at use time.

How do I rotate a BYOK key?

Settings, AI, Providers, the provider, Rotate. Paste the new key. The old key is invalidated immediately after the test call succeeds.

How do I revoke a BYOK key?

Settings, AI, Providers, the provider, Revoke. The key is removed and any in-flight AI requests fall back to the configured backup mode.

Can I switch between BYOK and Managed AI?

Accepted Answer

Yes, at any time. Memory, briefs and blueprints are stored by Blanca's Builder, not the provider, so switching does not break your projects.

How is Managed AI billed?

Per token, aggregated per month against your plan's included usage. You see live usage in Settings, AI, Usage.

Is some Managed AI usage included in my plan?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each plan includes a monthly token bundle. Overage is charged per 1,000 tokens at the rates listed on the Pricing page.

Can I export AI usage data for finance?

Yes. Settings, AI, Usage, Export downloads CSV invoices with per-day token counts and costs.

Which AI model is used by default?

Accepted Answer

The default is set per provider for a balance of cost and quality. You can override the model per project in Settings, AI, Models.

Did Blanca's Builder change the model used in my account?

Accepted Answer

Defaults can update as providers release new versions. We announce changes in the changelog and you can pin a specific model in Settings, AI.

Why am I hitting rate limits with BYOK?

Accepted Answer

Rate limits come from the provider, not from us. Increase the limit with your provider or reduce concurrent generation in Settings, AI.

What happens if I leak my BYOK key?

Revoke the key in your provider's dashboard, then in Settings, AI, Providers, Revoke. Rotate any related API tokens and review your provider's audit log.

Can I use multiple providers at once?

Yes. Each project picks the provider from your configured list. Useful for comparing quality or for routing different tasks to different models.

What happens if my AI provider is down?

Managed AI fails over to a backup provider automatically. With BYOK you can configure a fallback provider in Settings, AI, Failover.

Major changes are announced 30 days in advance via email and the in-app banner. The current rates are always on the Pricing page.
